Spring Soccer Clinic Thursday May 14th

Just a reminder that the first day of spring soccer is tomorrow, Thursday May 14th. Be sure to send your child to school with an extra snack, water, cleats, socks, shin guards, shorts, and a shirt. See you on the field!

Annual Park Clean up Day

Annual Park Cleanup Day SATURDAY, April 18th 9:00-12:00

We are asking ALL parents and athletes to join the Warner Parks and Rec on April 18th from 9:00-12:00 at RIVERSIDE PARK in Warner, for their: ANNUAL CLEAN UP THE PARK DAY!

The only way the fields are ready for play is if we each bring a rake, broom, and/or wheelbarrow to move winter out! Everyone is encouraged to attend, even if you can only devote a half hour as there is no such thing as too many hands!!!

Spring Hitting Clinic

Hey all you Baseball enthusiasts. I want to offer you the chance to participate in a hitting clinic at Kearsarge Regional High School on March 29th, 2009 from 9-11 or from 12-2. There is a fee of $40, but each child will get a T-shirt and it’s open to Children 5-18. If interested, you can find the form on-line at: Diamond Star Baseball. Or, you can e-mail me at jberube@sau53.org and I will be happy to send you a form.

Last year, a number of kids and parents attended said they had a great time and learned a lot. See you on the field soon.

Baseball News

Hey Everyone!!

It is true, Baseball and Softball is right around the corner. Hard to believe as I write this as 6+ inches of snow dropped tonight and is still falling. However, MLB is in full swing at spring training and Warner is gearing up. Registration Deadline is March 1st, a week away. You can get the form right here by clicking on: Baseball Registration 2009

Registrations will be honored after this date but a late charge will be added and a spot may not be guaranteed for your son or daughter. So, please register as soon as possible. I know March 1st seems a tad early but equipment and uniforms need to be ordered, number of coaches needed to get and all of this is much easier with numbers of children sooner than later. So, in advance, I thank you for your cooperation.

Other news:

Concessions: Last year, we tried really hard to have concessions open for every home game and would like to do that again this year. I would be hopeful that some of you would be willing to give at least one game of help. Later on in this news you will see how much of an impact this will have.

We were fortunate, thanks to the Warner Fall Foliage Festival, concessions income and The Annual Duck Derby to acquire a 55′ batting cage which I am looking for volunteers to help setup as well as a pitching machine. We will also be able to outfit the Majors with new uniforms. So a BIG thank you goes out to everyone who made this possible.

Finally, I have some opening day news.

The Majors will have their first game on Monday, April 27th.
The Minors will have their first game on Tuesday, April 28th.
And the Rookies will begin the following week on Thursday, May 7th.

The dates and times will be the same as last year:

Majors: Monday, Wednesday and Saturday’s (6:00pm on Weeknights and 1:00pm on Saturdays)
Minors: Tuesday and Saturday’s (6:00pm on Weeknights and 3:30pm on Saturdays)
Rookies: Thursday and Saturday’s (6:00pm on Weeknights and 10:30am on Saturdays)
T-Ball: Saturdays (Times to be determined… but last year was 8:30AM)

Any questions/comments can be directed at Joshua Berube. I can be reached via e-mail at jberube@sau53.org or by phone 340.2252.

Thanks.

Softball director needed for 2009 season

WYSA is looking for a Softball Director for the 2009 season.

The Softball Director oversees the activity of teams in under-10, under-12 and/or under-16 age levels. Responsibilities include recruitment and support of players and coaches; participation in league and WYSA meetings and decision-making; coordinating field maintenance and upkeep with the town Parks and Recreation Dept.; purchase, upkeep and storage of equipment; and communication with parents.

Most importantly, the Softball Director sets the tone that is at the heart of WYSA’s mission: teamwork, participation and fun, and respect for self and others.

The new Softball Director will have the opportunity to revive a program that has sagged because of demographics and flooding that left the softball field unplayable for two years.

If you’re interested, or have any questions, please call Steve varnum at 456-3153 or email to poppabear at tds dot net.
