Applications available at Simonds School in the vestibule or ask Mrs. Grimes.  Application and check must be handed in by October 31, 2008!  You can drop the completed applications and payment at Simonds School or at Colby Real Estate.

Program is held on Thursdays January 8, 15,22,29 and February 5

Bus leaves Simonds School on those days at 2:30pm

Group lessons at Pat’s Peak occur from 3:30 to 4:30pm

“Free Ski” is held from 4:30 to 5:30 with WYSA chaperones

Pick up time from Pat’s Peak in 5:30pm sharp

Application Deadline is November 1, 2008 (October 31 if handing in at Simonds)

Mandatory meeting for all kids and adults is on Monday December 8, 2008 at 7pm at the Warner Town Hall!!

WYSA’s major and most fun fund raiser for the 3rd year in a row is upon us.  Tomorrow will bring festivities and fun for the whole family.  Bring everyone you know to our 3rd annual Ducky Derby. Sponsor 1 or more ducks and watch them race down the river cheering all the way. It’s fun for the whole family and it helps to fund WYSA.

The race starts at the North Village Road Bridge and continues on to Riverside Park. There will be food and fun and a chance to win cash prizes! You can purchase your Ducky Derby Ticket from a player and their families or come to the concession stands during the games. $5 per ticket or 5 tickets for $20

We hope to see you there. It’s all for the kids!

WYSA’s participation in the Pats Peak “Learn to Ski and Snowboard Program” finished on January 31, 2008. I would like to thank Rachel de Thomas who took over as the Onsite-Coordinator this year. Rachel will be taking over the entire program next year as I will be retiring from WYSA at the end of this school year. I would also like to thank all the parent chaperones who helped this year. This program would not run as smoothly as it does without the help of all the Warner parents. Thank you, thank you, thank you. As part of the program, Pats Peak offers a BONUS DAY. Here are the details: 1. Use the laminated tag from the program. This should still be attached to your child’s jacket. 2. The tag is valid for ONE free day of skiing or snowboarding between Monday, February 25, 2008 and Sunday, March 23, 2008. It is NOT valid during the Saturday Pay One Price (POP) nights so if you want to go on Saturday, go early in the morning not at night. 3. Go to the ski school which is right next to the lodge where you met your child each week. 4. Show the laminated tag and your child will be given a FREE all day/all lift pass. If your child rented equipment during the program, your child will be able to rent on bonus day as well (for free). 5. Parents must provide transportation and supervision. The ski/snowboarding program begins on Thursday, January 3, 2008. There is so much great snow at Pats Peak and we are going to have a great first session. Please be sure that your child is dressed properly for this session. Remember that the gloves and socks used at recess are often still wet by the time we get to the mountain. Consider an extra pair of gloves and socks.

I have attached the handout that was given during the mandatory parent meeting. It should serve as a handy reference for you throughout the entire program. 2008 Pats Peak Parent Information Sheet

If your child needs bus transportation to Pats Peak, then I need a $20 check made payable to WYSA. Your child can give this to Mrs. Grimes on Wednesday.

If you are chaperoning, please be at Pats Peak by 3 PM. One of the most important roles for chaperones is to meet the bus at Pats Peak and help the students through the rental shop, put on boots and get to the 3:30 PM lesson on time. This is a challenge on the first day but gets easier over the course of the 5 weeks.

Nina Glendinning will be the parent chaperone on the bus. Your child must listen to all instructions given by her. (Nina—you have to be at Simonds by 2:15 PM…thanks). If there is a problem with your child’s behavior, you will be notified. There is no eating on the bus so be sure that your child has a great lunch. Have them bring a snack and water bottle for after the lesson. Not much time to eat before the lesson unless they are fast at getting ready with boots etc.

Casey Milender will be the parent chaperone in the lodge. Your child must listen to all instructions given by her. Students are NOT allowed to bring skis or snowboards inside the lodge. They are not allowed to run around and yell/scream inside the lodge. It is a place to warm up or meet a parent. Sometimes, children don’t want to ski after the lesson and spend that second hour in the lodge waiting. We strongly encourage students to go back outside but we do not force them. Be sure to discuss this with your child. Being in the lodge for the whole hour is what seems to lead to the behavior situations. If there is a problem with your child’s behavior, you will be notified.

If we are transporting your child’s equipment, please have it by the bike rack at Simonds by 2:15 PM.

Please be on time at Pats Peak at 5:30 PM for Pick UP.
